Dog team on the Tanana River

Location: saskatoon Bluff, Tanana River between Fairbanks and Nenana

Activities: It’s spring! Ski, bike, snowmachine or hike yourself to our homestead and we’ll feed and house you. Dogsledding tours and snowshoe rental options.

Trip Highlights: 

An “easy” cabin trip- Want to do a fun cabin trip without packing and carrying food, cutting firewood, and a long drive? We are a small family-run wilderness lodge located between Fairbanks and Nenana on the Tanana River. We’re offering special spring rates for self-sufficient Alaskans who can get themselves to our off-road location. We are happy to provide advice and GPS coordinates, but this trip is intended for you to enjoy the travel here and back independently. We offer this option at the end of March following the T Dog race when the trail along the river should be marked and easy to follow.

Trail Options:

  • 1.5 mile walk/sled- from mile 5 of Nenana Ridge Road, downhill on the way in, uphill on the way out.

  • 20(ish) mile trail along the Tanana River from Rosie Creek.

  • 27(ish) mile trail along the Tanana River from the Boat Launch.

    From here you can continue to Nenana or head back to Fairbanks.

Accommodations:

  • Skylodge Cabin- Small log and sod cabin with bedding, wood heat (firewood included), solar electricity, outhouse. Sleeps 1-4 people on one queen bed, 1-2 cots.

  • Sunlodge Cabin- Small log and sod cabin with bedding, wood heat (firewood included), solar electricity, outhouse. Sleeps 1-2 people on one queen bed.

  • Denali Tent- Framed 10 x 12 wall tent with floor, woodstove and outhouse that sleeps 2 on cots with sleeping bags.

Food: Delicious home-cooked dinner and breakfast at designated times, served in our main cabin or delivered to your cabin! Lunch for multi-day stays or on request for additional $25/person. We are able to customize meals for your dietary preferences with advance notice.

Optional add-ons: 1 hour dogsled ride for 2 guests $300, snowshoe rental $25/person.

Family Friendly: We have little kids. We’re happy to help you bring your family here and have kid-specific gear (high chairs, sleds, pack n play, toys, toddler sized mattresses, books etc.)

Timing:

  • Arrival Between 4-7pm.

  • Dinner 7-9pm

  • Breakfast at 9-10am.

  • Departures by 1pm.

Dogs: We have 12 big sled dogs who call this home, please talk to us for permission if you want to bring a dog. No dog straw please (invasives).

Not included: Transportation to and from our homestead, guiding services, alcohol.
